Fall cross stitch projects

The last couple of weeks I focused a lot on the fall theme. It is without a doubt my favorite time of year. And it is more than natural for me to include this in my cross stitch and embroidery work. That’s why I would love to tell you about our fall cross stitch projects and hopefully we’ll be able to provide some creative fall inspiration.

Fall cross stitch patterns

A very detailed and large fall cross stitch pattern

At the end of July I had started working on a major cross stitch pattern with a fall theme. You might have seen it on our Instagram, I did share quite a lot of both the work progress and the finished work. When I started the project, I expected to have it finished by the beginning of September. But I ended up only finishing at the beginning of October. The patterns has 45 (!) colors. Many of them are to be stitched using two strands of thread. Some of them were also for two different colors, so you would use one strand of one color and the second strand would be different color. This ensured a very subtle change of color in the pattern.

I had found this pattern on Etsy last year and wanted to wait until after summer to start stitching it. Working on such a large and detailed pattern was a first for me. But I am so happy with the end result. I have also learned how much time such a project will take, which will help me in my planning should I make similar patterns in the future.

The original pattern actually said ‘Hello September’, but since it was already October by the them I was putting the finishing touches on it, I replaced September with ‘Fall’. We are planning on turning this piece into a pillow case.

Smaller projects

Last year I also made some smaller fall cross stitch projects:

Last Summer, when I was in Turkey, I found my late grandmother’s old handmade potholders which inspired me to turning my smaller cross stitch projects into potholders. I got the fabric used on the front facing part from Turkey.
