Baby Cross stitch

Newborn gift

Finding a fun and unique newborn gift can be quite an ordeal. You want to find something different, something that the new parents have yet. At least, that’s what I was thinking when I was looking for a gift for a newborn baby boy. But I also wanted to make it personal by creating something myself.

Handmade gift

I didn’t have to think twice about making an embroidery hoop. However, I also wanted to make something in addition to the hoop. From the start, I knew that I wanted to use a cross stitch pattern from the ‘La Grande Histoire de Bebe‘ collection from Les Brodeuses Parisiennes which I had purchased at Casa Cenina.

At first, I thought of a design similar to what I had made before for a newborn baby girl. But I wanted to make a cross stitched item that was more practical and more easy to ship internationally. So, I decided to cross stitch three different patterns but instead of framing it, I’d make a bunting out of it. When I had decided on that, I then decided to make the embroidery hoop simple in design and opted for embroidery rather than cross stitch.

Bunting

Then I had to pick which three cross stitch patterns I was going to use. It ended being a mix of patterns, because I wanted to avoid it becoming too busy by only selecting patterns from ‘La Grande Histoire de Bebe’. I then drew the outlines of the bunting on a piece of cross stitch paper and started cross stitching.

Embroidery hoop

For the embroidery hoop, I decided to use a style similar to one of our previous hoops;

Since I had used somewhat of galaxy theme for the bunting, I decided to embroider a crescent moon instead of the bunny. I also opted for a more playful font.

The final product

Here are the bunting and embroidery hoop pictured together. The bunting can for example be placed on the outer end of the crib.

I myself added some other gifts to my handmade ones, such as a Sophie the Giraffe teether.
