I’d also like to refer you to some of our previous posts, where you can read more about the different types of fabric, how to get your fabric ready for cross stiching, and how to organize your embroidery floss:
I also wrote a previous post on finding cross stitch patterns. However, in this current post, I will focus more specifically on patterns for beginner cross stitchers. I found some patterns that I think would be suitable for you as a beginner cross stitcher. What I paid attention to in my search, is the number of colors that is used in the pattern, the size and also the complexity. By complexity, I mean for example that I paid attention to whether or not the pattern has blended colors and if it has a back stitch. Blended colors refer to two strands of different color embroidery floss used for one cross. Back stitch refers to, simply put, the lines. These two elements tend to make a pattern more complex in my opinion, so you will not find those in this post.
Easy patterns for beginner cross stitchers
Below you will find some Etsy shops with patterns I believe are suitable for beginner cross stitchers.
This shop has so many options for beginner cross stitchers in many different themes. You can find cross stitch patterns here that are modern and can easily be used as wall art, as well as quotes and even some character based patterns. I favorited so many of them! Below are just two of the items in this lovely shop.
Like the previous shop, this shop also has different subjects. I love the boho options, especially to see how it was incorporated in a more simple pattern. And, as a coffee lover myself, I especially enjoyed the coffee themed patterns.
To date, this shop has over 1,200 patterns! Needless to say, I am sure you will be able to find something here to your liking. Although not all of them are as simple, there are definitely plenty of options for beginner cross stitchers, like the two examples below.
Can’t find a pattern in this post that tickles your fancy? An easy way to find more examples is to type ‘cross stitch pattern simple‘ in your search query on Etsy.
