There is nothing more motivating in starting and actually finish a cross stitch project, than a pattern you absolutely adore. But how do you find the right cross stitch pattern?
When we started taken up cross stitching again, we focused mainly on patterns we found in Turkish books and magazines. Some patterns we drew ourselves based on finished cross stitch pieces made by friends and family.
More traditional patterns
Many of the Turkish cross stitch books and magazines are published by ‘Tuva Publishing’. If you live in the Netherlands or in Belgium, you can find them on bol.com. I find these patterns easy to stitch; they’re simple and beautiful. Most of the products focus on a product that you can stitch. They, for example, have a series that revolve around table cloths. However, you can use these patterns on different items as well of course, like on towels. Tuva Publishing also publishes a magazine, called ‘Kanavice’, which you purchase online through goblen.com. Veronique Enginger & les Brodeuses Parisiennes
The ‘Kanavice’ magazine also includes patterns designed by Veronique Enginger. You may have read about our adoration for her design in our other posts. We absolutely adore her patterns, I find them very sophisticated and elegant. She often collaborates with ‘Les Brodeuses Parisiennes’. Ever since I found their patterns, I hardly ever stitch anything else. They have a series called ‘Grand Histoire’, which each have a theme and they include small patterns.
