I often mention how much I love cross stitching and embroidering fairy tales. And I have to say, that is my most favorite theme. But I also am a big fan of space; the stars, planets, the moon. Although space related things are quite scientific, I think it also has something magical. I guess that has something to do with why I love galactic embroidery so much.
A few years ago, I visited Kennedy Space Center in Florida with work (I eventually started mispronouncing it as Spennedy Kade Center because I had to say it so often) and I was so impressed. There is an attraction that simulates a shuttle launch. According to our guide, an astronaut who also experienced the attraction, it feels really close to an actual launch.
Embroidery with a space theme
When I started doing embroidery, my focus quickly shifted to a space-theme. I wanted to do something with a purple-blue planet. As I was drawing a design, I quickly came up with the idea of adding a sweet quote and that’s how it suddenly got a romantic vibe:
It’s suitable as a baby embroidery hoop
I then wanted to embroider something a bit less sweet. I wanted to make a design that would also work as a baby embroidery hoop, especially for boys. Of course, it would also work for girls. But up until now, most of what I have made is more soft and pink, so I wanted something a bit more tough.
Although I my childhood dream of becoming an astronaut has not come true (yet), I’ll live out my dream by doing galactic embroidery. What do you think of this theme? Let me know in the comments below!
